July 18 (Saturday) Creek Cleanup
Cumberland County Green Party (CCGP) will team up with Conodoguinet Creek Watershed Association (CCWA) to clean up part of the Conodoguinet Creek, and then the two groups will picnic together.  Note: While the two events do work really well together, people can choose to attend either the cleanup or the picnic without participating in the other event.
CCWA typically cleans up a section of the Conodoguinet on the third Saturday of each month during the warmer months.  For July, CCGP has volunteered to help CCWA with their planned cleanup. The July cleaning is the mile of creek between Condoguinet Parkway (Route 114) and Bent Creek Rd.  People interested in helping with the creek cleanup will meet and park vehicles on Badden/Powell Lane. From Conodoguinet Parkway (Route 114) turn east onto Bent Creek Blvd. Proceed less than a quarter of a mile and turn right on to Badden/Powell Lane. Please, everyone, park on the left side.  Then at 8:45ish we will carpool to the entry site.
If you have any problems locating the group, call Paul Garrett on his cell phone 514-3546.  You can also call this number if you have questions or wish to confirm that you will be attending.
Dress appropriately according to the weather forecast (note the air temperature, wind speed and the amount of cloud cover. Sturdy creek shoes or old sneakers are necessary. A hat is a good idea. We have gloves, if desired.

July 18 (Saturday) Picnic
The creek cleanup will be done by noon, at which time the two groups, CCGP and CCWA, will move to the Willow Mill Park where we have reserved the pavilion, for a combined picnic.  The picnic format will be large potluck, so it is suggested that everyone bring a dish to pass.   There is a disc golf course at the park – you may have to bring your own discs – there is playground equipment for the younger kids, a nice park, and of course the creek.
Willow Mill Park Rd is directly across Conodoguinet Pkwy (Route 114) from Bent Creek Blvd.  If you follow that a half mile or so, past a stop sign and the history Hutson Mill on the right, you’ll come to Willow Mill Park, just past the Mill, also on the right.

Plus, for those who might want to make a very Green weekend of it….

July 18-19, GPPA Summer Gathering
Pennsylvania Green Party Summer Gathering is being held at Highland Farm (7046 Blue Hill Rd, Glenville, PA, about 2 mi S of Codorus St Pk and very close to the Maryland state line).  See  http://highland-farm-community.org/ages1/green09.html
